this morning i listened to this U2 song on the radio. i know it's an old song, from the album joshua tree, but it's been a very long time since i last listened to it. and somehow... i can feel the sadness in this song.

Semangatnya sama dengan chinese odyssey yang
pertama, romance yang dibungkus dengan
komedi, meskipun yang pertama ancur2-an
komedinya (very slapstick), yang 2002 lebih
elegan jokes-nya.

yang 2002 ini juga make mention ke yang
pertama, saat amour amour meng-quote ucapan
monkey king, hehe.

i cannot help but thinking, chinese odyssey 2002
ini sebenarnya adalah kisah layla majnun, dengan
ending yang dibuat berbeda (layla majnun
endingnya tragis ala romeo juliet, chinese odyssey
2002 dibuat happy ending). bukan berarti chinese
odyssey 2002 ini jelek, gue bilang malah bagus,
karena baru kali ini gue melihat manifestasi kisah
layla majnun dalam film, walaupun endingnya beda.

di layla majnun sama juga diceritakan cowo-nya
jadi "gila" dan berpikir bahwa dialah layla, dan
mati bersatu dengan pohon yang disandarinya. di
chinese odyssey 2002 princess-nya gila, dan ada
pohonnya juga (pohon plum), namun dia tidak mati
tragis, karena cowo-nya bersedia mengambil
perspektif lain, by being a woman in the love story.

hebat memang si wong kar wai ini. sometimes
being open minded, and willing to embrace
another perspective in life, however controversial it
could be, can change the tragedy in life into
happiness. good movie. recommended.
